LOOKING FOR A CAREER IN ECOTOURISM?
This course has been developed to enable you to either start up your own ecotourism business or become a manager within the ecotourism industry. A growing interest in outdoor adventure activities such as mountaineering and low impact bushwalking have been responsible for creating the ecotourism industry. It is a boom industry offering the potential for many interesting career & business opportunities.
Establishing such an enterprise requires an understanding of a wide range of issues including: legal considerations, safety, accommodation, the tour desk as a first point of contact, destinations, and management. This course develops your ability to establish and operate/manage an ecotourism enterprise.

This course develops your ability to organise and conduct ecotourism services including tours & activities. Learn to conduct guided tours, overnight walks and treks, or self guided interpretive walks.
Ecotourism is an industry that has developed hugely in recent years. It reflects both of the aims of modern conservation: management of resources and protection of the environment. Modern ecotourism strives to be sustainable, so that the activities that are taking place can continue to do so.
This course will introduce you to aspects of ecotourism such as:
- guiding environmental awareness,
- planning tours,
- displays and interpretive aids,
- plant and animal interpretation.

This Proficiency Award is designed to develop your ability to begin, operate and manage an Ecotourism business and increase your knowledge to enhance career skills
This is awarded upon completion of: a) Three Ecotourism courses:
- Ecotour Management (BTR101)
- Bushcraft & Wilderness Skills (BTR201)
- Ecotourism Tour Guide Course (BTR301)
and b) A workplace project or work experience (approved by a tutor and equal to 200 hours) |
